So I decide to look for jobs for people with disabilities through DEJobs.org this morning for a bit of a tongue twister. They have a sister website called “Abletowork” or Able to Work. The thing is, their jobs are professional level jobs with even construction engineering mixed in. Really? These are not the kind of jobs people with disabilities would be doing. People who are disabled need temporary, easy to get and do, simple jobs. Now that may sound like its a bit extreme, but if you think a disabled person can easily get a job as a “Senior Principal Commercial Pricing and Business Strategist” you’re fucking kidding me, DEJobs. The only advantage to this website is it attempts to tell you things for people who are *phsyically* disabled like how much lifting or squatting you will be doing. Seriously? Clicking a job link takes you to the company website: so what’s the point?
Really, people who design websites with a target audience in mind, who, in this case, haven’t yet bombarded them with ads (on an admittedly very easy to read website), aren’t doing anyone a favor. Thanks, but, your site is worthless. People who are disabled are disabled for a reason, and that reason I’m not sharing with you, because your one-sided attitude is returned.
