Prepaid TV Services

  • by

Get rid of post-paid, subscription TV services and make them prepaid. If you want prepaid with a contract, make the contract a price agreement that works in favor of the person prepaying for the service. Prepaid TV services would be beneficial not just for home users, but airlines, hotel and Airbnb visitors, and the like. You’re missing out on a market of people who need transient service, or who just want to watch the Superbowl without commercials, a concert or two, and not pay into a subscription model of services.

If you want, make it a “for credit” based service, where you prepay a balance into an account, and then subtract credits from it to pay for services. For people with low incomes, they can they prepay for TV service on a fixed budget that won’t draft their account like a subscription service does. This is good for kids who might have a balance to pay for a movie or two, and can save the remaining part of their allowance for other things. Even kids can have a Venmo card, so why not transplant the concept into a more prepaid card friendly model.
